Communication

Communication is the key to success. When running a football program the head coach needs to communicate between football coaches, other sports, and administration. It is vitally important that all coaches are on the same page and speaking the same language. I will always be committed to communicating in the best interest of our student athletes. We will have regular staff meetings to make sure all football coaches are communicating and know what to expect.

Collaboration and communication go hand in hand. In high school sports we encourage athletes to participate in multiple sports. This where communication and collaboration will most necessary. The head football coach must work with head coaches of other sports to make sure multi sport athletes are given opportunities to be involved. Especially during the off season. While it is important for an athlete to compete in other sports, he will be missing valuable workouts that the off season athletes will be involved in. I will coordinate with head coaches of other sports to make sure our football athletes have time to workout. Because they will be in season with another sport these athletes will be required to workout 2 days a week. The day and time will be determined by myself and the other head coach.

Communication is imperative when it comes to use of facilities. The sport that is season will always trump a sport that is off season. I will encourage head coaches to work together to make times work when seasons overlap. Planning and communication will enable us to have a seamless transition in situations when there is bad weather or for some reason an outside sport needs to come inside.

Working with administration is a huge part of a Head Football Coach's job. Whether it is working with athletes or filling teaching/coaching positions, the head coach and the administration will need to be on the same page. Weekly or monthly meetings with the campus principal is a great way to plan for the future. I understand that developing a great working relationship with campus admin plays a vital role in our athletic teams' success. I will always be open and honest with campus principals to make sure the needs of our student athletes will be met.
